This Victorian prison is now a museum of imprisonment and local history. It includes finds made during excavations upon nearby Dunion Hill Iron Age settlement and at Greyfriars Garden in the town. The Royal Castle of Jedburgh occupied the site from the 12th Century until 1409 when it was destroyed to deny its use to English Soldiers. Paranormal ActivityThe Jail has been the subject of many reported paranormal occurrences, apparitions have frequently been seen wandering the corridors and cells. Many have reported seeing a ghostly figure of a piper standing on the battlements.
